Rangers defenseman Jaroslav “Bojan” Halak, who signed a two-year contract extension earlier this month, will be in attendance at the team’s annual All-Star Game, according to general manager Glen Sather.
The Rangers, who also announced the deal with Halak’s agent on Friday, said they would make a formal announcement on Monday.
Sather has previously said Halak will not return to the Rangers, but the team has been working to secure his services since mid-December.
The deal includes a two year contract worth $5 million with a player option for a fourth year, and Halak has not been a full participant in the team meetings that determine whether the veteran is recalled or not.
The 24-year-old has recorded 13 goals and 36 points in 70 games with the Rangers this season.
