It’s been a rough few weeks for the Weekends Weeknd.
He announced last week that he had surgery on his left eye, and it’s taken him longer than expected to recover.
But the star has made it official: he’ll be undergoing surgery on both his eyes for the next two weeks.
The surgery is part of a new treatment plan that the singer and producer has been pursuing since last fall.
In addition to a procedure to repair a tear in his left retina, Weeknd will also be undergoing a “facial reconstruction” in order to improve the visual acuity of his left eyeball.
In a statement to Billboard, the singer said that the surgery “isn’t about cosmetic surgery, but about my vision, my mental health and my recovery.”
The Weeknd’s new treatment, he said, “allows me to see better than I did before.”
It’s unclear whether the surgery will affect Weeknds health in any way, though the singer’s manager has told Billboard that the project is “moving along smoothly.”
Weeknd has also announced that he’s “ready to rock again.”
